A BILL to amend and reenact the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §29-22-30, relating to providing that the identity of a lottery winner may not be publicly disclosed without the permission of that winner.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended and reenacted by adding thereto a new section, designated §29-22-30, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 22. STATE LOTTERY ACT.

§29-22-30. Identities of winners may not be disclosed.

    The identity of a person entitled to a prize or any winning ticket may not be disclosed without the written permission of that person.

    NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit the identity of a lottery winner from being publicly disclosed without the permission of that winner.
